Debbie Hiscock is a self-taught artist from Southampton, Hampshire, who discovered her passion for art during her school days, where it quickly became her favourite subject. Despite taking a different path after school, she occasionally indulged in her artistic pursuits over the years.

It wasn't until the Covid lockdown that Debbie began dedicating herself to daily drawing, focusing on human portraits using graphite pencil, often on Strathmore Bristol Vellum. Her work gained recognition when it was displayed alongside other artists at the University of Southampton for several months.

In early 2023, Debbie ventured into the realm of coloured pencils, finding a new passion for drawing animals. Her debut piece, a kingfisher, was promptly sold and now adorns a client's home in New Zealand.

Preferring surfaces like drafting film and Clairefontaine pastelmat for their varied results, Debbie utilises a range of pencils including Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran d’Ache Luminance, Pablos, Museum Aquarelle, Derwent Drawing, and Artists pencils. She aims for a high level of realism in her artwork.

While currently employed part-time at a library, Debbie is actively pursuing her dream of becoming a full-time artist.
