Debby has been painting professionally since the late 70’s and after a long and varied career now specialises in miniature painting on Kelmscott vellum which has been produced since 1870 at the riverside works of W Cowley in Newport Pagnell where she was born.

The highly detailed colourful miniatures mostly measure just two inches square and generally feature British birds and animals together with intricate borders, quotes and sayings from literature or folklore with Debby often returning to Shakespeare, Keats and John Clare for inspiration.

She is an elected member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, The Society of Women Artists and the Hilliard Society and has won numerous awards for her work including the HRH Princess Michael of Kent Award for the Most Outstanding Watercolour and the Caron Keating Memorial award at the SWA annual exhibitions, was three times winner of the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery Masters Award, several awards at the RMS including the Presidents Special Commendation and awards in international miniature exhibitions in the USA whilst exhibiting with the Miniature Arts Society of Florida, and the Miniature Painters Sculptors and Gravers Society of Washington.

Debby is represented in the USA by the Sea Side Gallery, Nags Head, North Carolina where she has won The Best Opaque/Watercolour Gouache award for her miniature paintings in their annual international miniature art shows in 2018, 2021 and 2023.

When not painting, Debby enjoys rummaging around collectors fairs on the lookout for items from the 1970’s Biba store, reading murder mysteries, walking in the countryside, horse riding and exploring ancient churches.

One day she’ll grow up and getting a proper job but in the meantime she’s loving being busy painting and is delighted to be a member of the Association of Animal Artists.
