Combining a love of animals and a passion for art led Katharine Skorka to begin a successful career as a professional artist in 2019. Based in south Staffordshire, she uses pastels and watercolour to make beautiful pet portraits. Katharine works from her studio Skorkart which is open to the public and based at Halfpenny Green Wine Estate in Bobbington.

Katharine studied Fine Art at Loughborough University and is driven by her passion for animals and desire to create meaningful connections through art. Hours of work go into each portrait as she captures the essence and individuality of each animal. Her attention to detail breathes life into the artwork, conveying the unique personalities of her subjects.

“I love to see the first reaction from the owners, especially if it is a pet they have lost. Seeing the memories of their pet flooding back to them and quite often some teary eyes, I’m so glad I’m able to make something they will treasure forever.”

In addition to her commissioned work, Katharine teaches art classes in watercolour from her studio and runs an evening art club. Her work is available as original art, art prints, greetings cards and gifts featuring her latest work.
