I have loved painting all my life.
Some years ago, I decided to return to art and attended art college as a mature student. I emerged with a distinction in my Higher National Diploma, and a desire to commit myself to my painting.
Nature and wildlife seemed a natural choice for me, as I live in a rural area and am surrounded by so much which inspires. For the past few years I have worked almost exclusively in watercolour, but I have recently enjoyed returning to oil painting, and some of my more recent works have been in this medium.
I have a love of painting birds and have developed a particular fascination for the birds in my garden. I enjoy watching their behaviour and social interaction. They are a constant source of joy.
Since leaving college, I have exhibited often, both as a solo artist, and as part of a group. I have had work included in exhibitions such as the Keele University Open, The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Open and the Stafford Shire Hall Open. I was highly commended in the SAA Artist of the Year 2013 competition, having my work published in their 2014 desk diary, and I was a winner in Leisure Painter Magazine’s ‘Simply the Best’ competition in 2011.
In addition to The Associaton of Animal Artists, I am a member of the The Wildlife Art Society International, Market Drayton Art Club, and the Society for All Artists.
