For the last 5 years Lesley has been living on her narrow boat making her way along the canals and rivers of England and Wales. Making drawings of wildlife, sketching and mapping the routes she has taken. After graduating from Hallam University in 2007, Lesley took a new direction of recording the wildlife on her travels. This has been an ongoing process longer than her studio practice on her boat.
Lesley draws from a memory, recreating a moment of an observation, starting as a sketch and then onto become drawings. Painting in watercolours, pen & inks she draws rather than paints to highlight what can be found on the canal and river navigations.
Lesley has exhibited in galleries around the country; she currently has three drawings in the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port which comes to an end in November. She has exhibited in various galleries around the country, London, Nottingham, Leeds, Liverpool over the past few years. Lesley is a Guild of Waterway Artist who enjoys being part of a group of artists who depict all aspects of the waterways being a member since 2011.
