NAME: Clare Templey
LOCATION: Nottingham, UK
DID YOU HAVE ANY FORMAL TRAINING?: I have been doing artwork all my life, and have an A-level in Fine Art.
I also have a Masters degree in Zoology, which comes in useful when doing animal artwork. I am able to use my knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology and behaviour to create realistic works of art. This sets me apart from other artists!
SUBJECT OF CHOICE: Any animals whether wild or pet. I especially love drawing dogs.
MEDIUM OF CHOICE: My specialism is in using pastels.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?: The natural world.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ARTISTIC AMBITIONS THAT YOU ARE WORKING TOWARDS? IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY? : In 2020 i won Hobbycraft Artist of the Year with my artwork of frogs in a pond. My dream would be to win in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year competition. I'd also love to be able to make my artwork my full-time career.
