I am based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire although originally from Yorkshire.
As a lifelong artist from early years studying Fine Art at Leeds University, to now, I have developed my skill with animal portraits and other subjects.
I mainly work in oils and most often on a music background. Each picture is related to the music it is painted on. Music has always been a part of my family. My grandfather and gt grandfather were both military musicians with the Scots Greys (Boer War and World War 1). I learned the violin while at school and now my daughters have both excelled with music for themselves. We all play in orchestras and have such fun with our music and see the memories and pleasure that it invokes Using music in my work lends a different dimension to what I do. Music to match the subject... or music to inspire a painting.... In a way I now listen to the pictures that I paint as do those that receive my work. Music is very emotional and everyone has memories associated with different melodies and sounds. I hope by combining the two together I add an extra dimension my work.
The last few years have been very challenging for so many of us but for me, painting has been a way of easing some of the stress and worry that I have encountered. I have been able to revisit my love of painting and now share this with others through commissions and original art works. I now have work being enjoyed in a number of countries around the world.
My two daughters returned to university in Autumn 2021 so I have just my husband and King Charles Spaniels (Elsie, Niffler, Bailey, Ethel and Clara) for company... and my paints of course!
