I was born in the UK but grew up in Pennsylvania, USA.  After graduating from university, I pursued a career in technical editing and graphic design in London.  Now 65, retired and living in Lincolnshire, I took up drawing again in 2023 after not putting pencil to paper for over 20 years. I’ve always loved animals and nature, so, as an amateur ‘self-taught’ artist, I suppose it was inevitable that my artwork would end up featuring pets and wildlife.  My earlier work was in graphite but I recently ‘plunged’ into colour, so still on a learning curve with this new medium.  I am, however, enjoying the journey immensely and slowly but surely establishing a client base for commissions.  I’m very pleased to now be a member of the AAA.  My work can be viewed on my Facebook page:  Helen Turkdogan Pet and Wildlife Portraits.
