Jane Wilkinson

LOCATION: West Yorkshire, England UK

TRAINING: I went to Art College and university in the 1980s but didn’t pursue art as a career.  I worked from home and then became a primary school teacher.  I have always had a passion and love of drawing and in 2021, I decided that I would really like to become an artist.  This is what I am now, and I am so grateful that I made that choice.  I absolutely love my job.

SUBJECT OF CHOICE:  I specialise in animal portraits and have a great love of nature.  I have had several pet dogs and love to draw dogs as a subject.  My main income comes from pet portraits, I try to capture the character of the pet and always start by focusing on the eyes.  I think they are the soul to an animal drawing, when they are right the rest just falls into place.  When not doing commissions, I love to draw other animals, especially farm animals.  I love sheep and cows, oh and donkeys, pigs and chickens.  I could go on.

MEDIUM: I work mainly in coloured pencil, but also use watercolours and pen and ink.  I would love to develop my skills with pastels.

I have Facebook and Instagram accounts and I am trying to develop a website (it may be done as you read).  I intend to sell commissions, prints and cards from here.
