Born in London I have moved around the UK from Devon to Scotland ending up in the New Forest before moving to Shropshire a couple of years ago. I first started drawing and subsequently painting in July 2019 when someone asked me to an ‘art & coffee’ morning where I painted a field mouse going up a poppy in watercolour. Inspired I joined All Seasons Art classes learning many mediums including pencil, pastel, watercolours and Acrylics. On moving to Shropshire in 2020 I joined an evening class in oil painting at Shrewsbury College, where I learnt how to paint landscapes and the human figure. However I have always loved animals and in February 2023 I decided to have a go at paint my dog, since then I’ve been busy with commissions of other peoples pets, including dogs, cats and 2 donkeys. I always start with the animal’s eyes, as I believe this shows the character within, followed by the nose and ears. I think I’ve found my niche, as it’s lovely to see the characters develop as you paint. I prefer to paint in either acrylics or oils but I have pencilled a tiger and an elephant before. I’m a member and trustee of The Visual Arts Network Shropshire.
