Hello! My name is Mo and I'm a self-taught artist living in Cheshire. I have had a lifelong passion for art, which has finally blossomed into a fulfilling career at the age of 55. Since my school days, I've always had a deep love for drawing especially capturing the unique expressions and personalities in the faces of people and animals. This enduring fascination has led me to become a pet and animal portrait artist.
I love all animals but especially dogs. Living in Greece for 10 years and being a volunteer in an animal shelter drives my advocacy for adopting rescue or stray dogs rather than buying from breeders or pet stores. I firmly believe that no animal should be chained or kept in captivity, and this belief fuels my dedication to animal welfare. I support a number of dog rescue charities all over the world including those fighting to end the dog meat trade in East Asia. I also support charities that help endangered species and those who work to free all wild animals in captivity.
Over the years, I've experimented with various mediums, including oil, acrylics, and water colours. However, pastels have become my preferred medium due to their versatility. They are fun to work with and often very messy! But pastels allow me to achieve a remarkable level of realism, which is a key aspect of my artistic style.
So far my journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited to share my work with you. Being a member of Association of Animal Artist allows me to follow my passion but at the same time to actively raise awareness and improve animal welfare of all animals, from endangered species to our four legged friends!
