I’ve been drawing as long as I could hold a pencil. I can’t even really remember what drew me (pun intended) to drawing to begin with, but I basically went from copying cartoons out of the paper, to drawing realistic people from magazines, to attempting photorealism, to now just concentrating on pure realism, and capturing the *souls* of my subjects more than what the photo tells me is important.
I work primarily in pencil on Bristol, although I have used India ink as well. I normally work 11 x 14,” as I strive for realism, and I feel that life- or close to life-size pieces help that.
I draw people that inspire me, make me laugh, make me listen, and make me think. But I love drawing animals even more - they have a purity that we’re just not worthy of.
