NAME: Sandra Jones
LOCATION: Dorset, UK
DID YOU HAVE ANY FORMAL TRAINING?: West Sussex College of Art & Design – Diploma (1984)
SUBJECT OF CHOICE: Wildlife, Pet Portraiture and Landscape
MEDIUM OF CHOICE: Pastels
WHAT INSPIRES YOU? Having only returned to art in the last two years, absolutely everything and anything catches my eye! From the landscape around me (especially as I am new to the area) to everything that moves that is animal related. People portraiture I try and leave alone, but having joined several art societies I am being pushed out of my comfort zone now.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ARTISTIC AMBITIONS THAT YOU ARE WORKING TOWARDS?: I have given up full time employment to try and make a success at my painting, so my dream is to be able to continue and make this happen. I am entering several competitions and gallery call for entries, including Wildlife Artist of the Year and The Pastel Society – Mall Gallery exhibition which I have entered several paintings including ‘Painting Dogs’. To be able to have my own exhibition and eventually be able to teach this brilliant medium is also at the top of my to-do list as well as having my own selection box of pastels created with my name on by a major supplier! I am also looking into starting up a patreon page and am in the process of applying to become a member of Artists for Conservation, so just a few things keeping me busy.
