Working from her home studio in central Scotland, animal artist Anj Jamieson strives to convey that connection between flora and fauna, inviting the viewer to ponder the relationships within each painting. She aims to capture the subject’s character, adding in subtle elements of symbolism, abstraction and texture, all fused with joyful colours and expressive brushwork.

Her love of nature is a constant inspiration and being surrounded by her own dogs and horses, as well as farm animals and local wildlife, allows her passion for the natural world to be unleashed on the canvas.

Anj believes enjoying the process is as important as, if not more than, the finished piece. Channelling that inner child who got lost in play; using mixed media allows her to really get involved in the creative process.

Anj started her artistic career in 2012, primarily working on pet portraits. Over the years she has exhibited in solo shows and open studios and is proud to have her work in homes around the world including Portugal, Australia and New Zealand.

She accepts commissions and has recently found a love of holding workshops from her home studio.
