Just a little about myself. I am a self-taught artist but have taken time to watch other artists at work, and attended art workshops. I have learnt so much from other artists who enjoy sharing their knowledge. In the early days I completed an on-line art course, with The London College of Art, but practice of course is the key, and I can safely say that I still continue to learn today.
I have always loved arts and crafts and have tried to turn my hand to a few things along the way, as well as once becoming a professional cake decorator and running a small business for a while. I finally settled on putting brush and pencil to paper, over 12 years ago, just prior to my retirement from my then day job, as an office assistant.
After trying out different mediums and different subjects, I decided that my strengths tended to lean more in the direction of animal subjects, they seem to keep my interest and showcase my love for animals.
I now mostly work with coloured pencil, as I like the detail that can be achieved.
On occasion, I paint with oils, and I also use pan pastel for backgrounds, as well as acrylics.
