I’m a self-taught animal artist based in Shropshire, working mainly in coloured pencil as well as graphite.

I have enjoyed drawing and painting from an early age and have experimented with different mediums over the years, including watercolour and acrylics. I returned to drawing in 2013, initially working in graphite, and found that pencils particularly suited the detailed way I like to work. One of my first animal portraits was of my Border Collie, Eddie, and animals have remained at the heart of my work ever since. In 2019, I began exploring coloured pencil, which has since become my main medium.

Alongside my artwork, I work part-time in a veterinary practice, so animals are a big part of both my working and creative life. I particularly enjoy capturing the individual character and expression of each subject, gradually building layers of pencil to create detail, texture and depth.

Much of my work is inspired by the relationship people have with their animals, and I especially value creating portraits that hold personal meaning for their owners, including memorial pieces. I also enjoy drawing wildlife and exploring subjects that allow me to try different approaches and continue developing as an artist.
