I Live in Devon, U.K. and have the following qualifications:
GCSE Art & Design – Clyst Vale, Exeter -1996
A-Level Art & Design – Exeter College – 1998
Degree – Art / Craft modules as part of an education degree – 2006-2009
OCN – Level 3 – From Fleece to Felt (wet felting) – 2008
I dry needle felt animals & their natural world. I also make felt illustrations alongside animal & nature inspired story poems that I have written.
I dry needle felt pictures & then I have them as prints into giclee prints on 310gsm Hahnemuhle photo rag. I just love the beauty of wool, with all its warmth, texture, light & the soft, nurturing feel that it seems to give. I use ethically sourced wool, and the majority of wool is organic and naturally dyed from plants and flowers, giving beautiful harmonious colours directly from nature. I also used a small amount of non-mulesed merino wool.
I’m inspired by the vibrant colours and wildlife found in beautiful Devon where I live.
My ambitions are:
I aiming to do greeting cards in the future & to approach local shops.
I’m currently in the middle of sourcing & sampling wool from a local sheep farmer & I aim to naturally dye the wool myself with plants & flowers.
I’m aiming to offer dry needle felting workshops in the near future.
I’m aiming to be as sustainable as possible in the materials that I use as an artist, for example, I opted for Hahnemuhle paper for my giclee prints due to the fact that their paper mill relies entirely on renewable energy sources and the paper is sustainably sourced.
